This certification provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of nursing educators with an emphasis on course structure, teaching strategies, classroom evaluation techniques, small tutorial groups and in-clinical sitting. Additionally, the course highlights principles of adult learning.

Certification Objectives:

Upon completion of the 3-day-worksop the participant will be able to:

  • Identify current trends affecting staff development;
  • Identify the roles of the staff development educator;
  • Describe the competencies of the educator;
  • Describe the process and considerations in managing staff development activities;
  • Identify Adulthood learning theories include adult learning, Benner Theory, & critical thinking;
  • Identify training requirements for a department and its individual members;
  • Design behavioral objectives which reflects program goals;
  • Describe the basic principles for implementation of educational activities;
  • Describe the process of evaluation.
